Living Web - Apple Vision Pro App
Rapid Design-and-Build Case Study for Wiliot / Shoptalk US 2024

Challenges
New platform, no playbook – Apple Vision Pro had just released its Human-Interface Guidelines; design patterns were still theory, not practice.
Two-week hard deadline – The prototype had to demo live at Shoptalk Las Vegas for Wiliot’s keynote.
Scope reset mid-sprint – After week 1 our first concept proved unbuildable; the dev team requested eight completely different screens in 48 hours.
Remote, three-time-zone team – Rapid hand-offs between designer (Seline), developer (Dilnur), and Wiliot PM Eric Casavant.
The process
Day Range | Key Moves |
---|---|
Days 1-3 – Vision OS crash-course | • Deep-dive into Vision Pro HIG, spatial affordances, volumetric layouts.• Parsed constraints (no web views, limited text entry, depth layering). |
Days 4-7 – First iteration (scrapped) | • Ported existing iPhone UI 1-to-1 → quickly hit dev blockers on window clustering & focus targets.• Usability tests in Simulator exposed cognitive overload. |
Day 8 – Scope Pivot | • PM & dev requested an eight-panel “Living Web Tags” flow.• Seline sketched a stripped-down card system (2-D facades in 3-D space). |
Day 9 – Re-design & prototype | • Built fresh Figma file with spatial cards, color-coded data chips, big type for passthrough contrast.• Dilnur stubbed SwiftUI RealityKit scenes; we ping-ponged exports hourly. |
Day 10 – Polish & hand-off | • Assets optimised (P3 PNGs, 4-K textures).• Handoff package: Figma tokens, SF Symbols map, README for dev.• Uploaded TestFlight build 8 hours before flight to Vegas. |

The outcome
On-time Showcase – The Vision Pro demo ran flawlessly on stage at Shoptalk US 2024, viewed by dozens of attendees.
Company-wide adoption – Wiliot now uses the build as its internal demo for Vision OS initiatives.
Stakeholder praise – Eric Casavant (Marketing Manager) on Upwork:
“Professional, direct, and exceeded our expectations. They provided UX and UI support with Figma for Vision Pro and our iPhone app, designing most of the UX and graphics assets from scratch. It looked very professional. Would hire again!”
Design efficiency – 90 % of final UI was created in 48 hours post-pivot.
Technical win – First‐try build passed Apple TestFlight review; no geometry or focus errors.

Conclusion
This project proved our duo can absorb a brand-new platform, triage scope, and ship production-ready design and code in under 10 days—even when the goalposts move mid-sprint.
